This site is maintained by hand, one state at a time, and the most useful mail we get is from readers who noticed something we did not.

Worth telling us about

• A figure that is out of date. A statute was amended, an age or weight limit changed, a fine changed. If you have the section number or the agency page, include it — that is the whole job done.
• A source link that no longer works. State sites reorganize constantly. A citation pointing at a dead page is as good as no citation, so we would rather fix it than leave it.
• A state we have not covered. Coverage spans all 51 jurisdictions, but re-verification takes time. Knowing which ones people are actually checking changes the order.
• A row that should exist and does not.Sometimes a field reads "not addressed in statute" because we read the section and it truly says nothing about it. If you know of a provision we missed, say where it is.

What we cannot answer

We cannot give legal advice or medical advice, and we cannot answer questions about your own child or your own situation — which seat to buy, whether your installation is correct, or how a citation you received should be handled. We are not a law firm, a pediatric practice or a certified child passenger safety program, and writing to us creates no professional relationship. Questions like those belong with a lawyer licensed in your state, your child's pediatrician, or a certified child passenger safety technician; questions about the statute itself belong with your state's highway safety office, which every state page links to directly. Please do not send confidential details about a dispute.

We also do not sell car seats, do not review or recommend specific products, and do not collect your details for anyone who does.
