Rule Hub publishes what US states require of car seat use, with a source link and a check date on every figure. Reading it means accepting the terms below. They are short because the site does very little: it publishes information and nothing else.

Nothing here is legal advice, and nothing here is medical advice. We are not a law firm, not a pediatric practice and not a certified child passenger safety program. The pages describe rules in general terms; they cannot tell you what a rule means for your child, your vehicle or your case, because that depends on facts we do not have.

No attorney-client or medical relationship

Reading this site, or writing to us about it, does not create an attorney-client relationship, a physician-patient relationship, or any other professional or fiduciary relationship. Do not send confidential information about a dispute or a citation. We cannot represent you, cannot advise you, and cannot answer questions about your own child or situation.

Confirm before you act

Treat what you read here as a starting point that tells you what to ask and where to ask it. Before you act — choosing when to move a child out of a stage, traveling to another state, or responding to a citation — check the current statute yourself and confirm it with your state's highway safety office. Every state page links to both. For how a seat fits your child, ask a certified child passenger safety technician or your pediatrician.

Accuracy and currency

We cite a primary source for every figure and record the date we last checked it, and we publish nothing we could not source. That reduces errors; it does not eliminate them. Legislatures amend statutes, agencies reorganize pages, and a figure that was right when we checked it can be wrong by the time you read it. The site is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, and we do not warrant that it is complete, current or error-free. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on it. The check date next to a figure is exactly what it says — the day we verified it, not a promise about today.

Links to other sites

The site links heavily to state legislatures, state agencies, NHTSA and AAP pages, because that is how a citation works. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for their content or availability, and a link is not an endorsement. A link that worked when we checked it may later point somewhere else or nowhere at all — if you find one, tell us.

We do not sell car seats

We do not sell, review or recommend specific car seat products. We do not generate quotes, do not collect your details for a sale, and do not refer visitors to retailers. There is no form here to fill in. Anything on this site that looks like a sales funnel is not ours.

Use of the content

You are welcome to read, print and quote from these pages, and to link to them. If you quote a figure, cite the underlying statute or agency page rather than passing our summary off as the source — that link is on every page for exactly this reason. Bulk copying of the site as a whole is not permitted.
